Benefits with real value reduce the tax-deductible portion of a gift; your acknowledgment letter will state that value. Three-year pledges are always arranged directly with our Executive Director.
Pledges, Stock, Estate Gifts, and Naming
Three-year pledges, gifts of stock, estate and planned gifts, program sponsorships, and naming opportunities are arranged personally with Terri Michele King, Founder & Executive Director.
Frequently Asked Questions.
What's the difference between an online gift and becoming a patron?
An online gift through Zeffy can be any amount, one-time or monthly. It's a general donation without benefits. Patron gifts start at $500 and include benefits such as a Scholar membership and class discounts. Because the benefits need to be set up for you, patron gifts are arranged directly with our Executive Director.
Can I become a patron but skip the benefits?
Yes. Check "Decline benefits" when you choose a patron level, and your full gift is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. You're still recognized as a patron unless you ask to give anonymously.
Is a library membership a donation?
No. Memberships pay for borrowing privileges, so they generally aren't tax-deductible. Online gifts and patron gifts are charitable donations.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Fiber Arts Houston is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 42-2979986). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. For patron gifts with benefits, the value of those benefits reduces the deductible amount; your acknowledgment letter will state that value. This is not tax advice; please check with your own advisor.
Why does Zeffy ask me for an extra contribution?
Zeffy is a free fundraising platform for nonprofits. It charges Fiber Arts Houston no platform or processing fees, so 100% of your donation reaches us. To keep that model running, Zeffy invites donors to add an optional contribution to Zeffy at checkout. That amount goes to Zeffy, not to Fiber Arts Houston, and you can change it to $0.
How do I make a pledge, a gift of stock, or an estate gift?
Three-year pledges, gifts of stock, estate gifts, program sponsorships, and naming opportunities are arranged directly with our Executive Director, Terri Michele King, at terri@fiberartshouston.org or 832-465-4935.
What does my gift pay for?
Our $50,000 seed campaign funds the collection, the cataloguing, and the library's first year open. As memberships grow, they fund our first hire: a half-time librarian.
