The Library
A lending library of rare, out-of-print, and multilingual fiber arts books and patterns.
What you'll find here.
The Fiber Arts Houston library holds more than 2,500 titles and patterns. The collection covers every major fiber arts discipline: embroidery, weaving, knitting, spinning, lace, tapestry, textile history, and pattern design.
What makes it different from a public library is what's in it. Many titles are out of print. Some were never published in English. Others are technique references that serious practitioners search for for years and rarely find in one place.
Three things set this collection apart:
Rare and out-of-print.
We collect the books that have gone out of circulation — the technique guides, encyclopedias, and specialized references that you can't order on Amazon.
Multilingual.
The collection includes books in French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and other languages — because the best resources for certain techniques don't always exist in English.
Every discipline.
One library for embroidery, weaving, knitting, spinning, lace, and more. Not a specialty shop — a complete reference library for fiber arts.
