Privacy Policy

Last updated September 26, 2026

Fiber Arts Houston (“FAH,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Houston, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect through fiberartshouston.org and the services we use to run our library, and how we use and protect it. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Information You Give Us

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, topic, and message. We use them only to reply. Messages are stored in a Google Form and spreadsheet that only FAH staff can access.
  • Volunteer form. The details you choose to share, such as your name, email, phone, city and ZIP code, interests, skills, and availability, collected through Google Forms. We use them to match you with volunteer roles.
  • Email. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.
  • Donations of items. Your name and contact details, and a description of what you gave, so we can arrange pickup or shipping and send a receipt.

Services That Collect Information on Our Behalf

Some features are provided by trusted third parties. When you use them, their own privacy policies also apply.

  • Substack runs Twist & Ply, our journal, and library memberships. Substack collects your email address and, for paid memberships, payment information.
  • Stripe processes payments for library memberships purchased through Substack. Stripe collects your payment details; FAH never sees your full card number.
  • Zeffy processes online donations. Zeffy collects your name, contact details, and payment information and shares your name, contact details, and gift amount with FAH so we can acknowledge your gift. FAH never sees your full card number.
  • Google Forms collects contact and volunteer form responses.
  • Koha, our library system at library.fiberartshouston.org, stores member account and borrowing records needed to run the library. We treat borrowing records as confidential and use them only to operate the library.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Umami count page views and clicks on donate and subscribe links so we can improve the site. Neither uses cookies or identifies you personally.
  • Google Maps displays our location on some pages and may collect information under Google’s privacy policy.

Cookies and Local Storage

Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We store one small setting in your browser to remember that you closed our Twist & Ply journal sign-up prompt, so we don’t show it again for 30 days. Embedded services (Substack, Zeffy, Google) may set their own cookies.

How We Use Information

  • To answer questions and arrange visits, pickups, and donations.
  • To acknowledge gifts and provide tax receipts.
  • To run library memberships and lending.
  • To coordinate volunteers.
  • To send Twist & Ply and library news, only if you subscribe.
  • To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

Donor Privacy

We do not sell, rent, or share donor names or contact information with other organizations. We may list donor names in recognition (such as on our patron wall, website, or in Twist & Ply) only as described for your gift level, and you may ask to be listed anonymously at any time.

Your Choices

  • Unsubscribe from the free Twist & Ply journal at any time using the link in any email. Paid library memberships (Supporter, Scholar, and Sustaining Scholar) stay active while any books, tools, or equipment are checked out; once everything is returned, the membership can be cancelled.
  • Ask us to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.
  • Ask to give anonymously or be removed from donor recognition.

Security and Retention

We limit access to personal information to the people who need it and keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, such as donation records kept for tax purposes.

Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents or guardians can contact us to review or remove information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our programs grow. We’ll post changes here and update the date at the top.
